Sister Ange T. Cadigan, BVM, 92, (Julia Patrice) died Aug. 7, at Caritas Center in Dubuque, Iowa. A funeral Mass was celebrated August 11 with interment in the Sisters’ Mount Carmel cemetery in Dubuque.

Sister Mary Jean Meir, Sister of Mercy

Sister Mary Jean Meier, RSM, died August 8 at age 85. Sister Mary Jean had been a Sister of Mercy for 64 years. A funeral Mass was celebrated August 14 at Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in Los Angeles. Cardinal Roger Mahony, Archbishop of Los Angeles, presided.

A funeral Mass was celebrated July 2 at the Presentation Sisters Motherhouse Chapel for Presentation Sister Helen Griffin who died June 26. The late religious was born in San Francisco and was a Sister of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary for 67 years.

ORANGE, Calif. – Retired Bishop Norman F. McFarland of Orange, who led the southern California diocese for 11 years until his 1998 retirement, died April 16 after a brief illness. He was 88.

Sister M. Malachy Hannigan, born in Donegal, Ireland on December 4, 1906, and a member of the Sisters of the Holy Family for 76 years, died at the Sisters’ Motherhouse in Fremont March 16 at the age of 103.

Father William Worner, Archdiocesan priest for nearly 65 years

A funeral Mass was celebrated March 4 for Father William H. Worner at St. Gregory Parish in San Mateo where he served as pastor from 1977 – 91. Father Worner died Feb. 28. Ordained to the priesthood June 16, 1945, he was 89 years of age.

Msgr. John Heaney priest for 57 years

A funeral Mass was celebrated Feb. 2 at St. Paul Church in San Francisco for Msgr. John Heaney who died Jan. 29 at Nazareth House in San Rafael, where he had lived in recent years.

A memorial Mass was celebrated for Notre Dame Sister Catherine of the Sacred Heart Arnoldy at Sisters of Notre Dame Province Center Chapel in Belmont Jan. 22. Sister Catherine, who marked her 100th birthday Dec. 17, died Jan. 16.
