Deacon Nicolas L. Rodriguez

Deacon Nicolas L. Rodriguez, known for his service at St. Timothy, St. Matthew and Our Lady of Mount Carmel parishes, died Feb. 1. He was 80 years old.

Born in Mexico, he came to the United States with his family in 1975. He retired from Hillsborough City School District in 2005 “after 16 years doing what he loved most– gardening and preserving and being one with nature,” his family said in a statement.

He was ordained a deacon in 1991. “He was respected and admired by many members of the church community and was always willing to help and serve the Lord in any way possible,” his family said.

Survivors include his wife Gloria, their five children, and their families.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Feb. 6 at St. Timothy Church with interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma.

Remembrances may be made to the Priests’ Retirement Fund, One Peter Yorke Way, San Francisco 94109.
