Sister Imelda Marie Dibble, OP

Sister Imelda Marie Dibble died Feb. 16 at the motherhouse of the Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose in Fremont. She had been a religious for 66 years and was 83 years old.

She was born in San Francisco and attended St. James School and held an undergraduate degree from Holy Names University in Oakland and a graduate degree from the University of San Francisco. Her teaching ministry spanned 33 years at schools in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Oakland and Mexico City.

From 1986 until her retirement in 2011 Sister Imelda served her congregation in roles including treasurer, congregational councilor and director of studies.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Feb. 23 in the motherhouse chapel with interment in the sisters’ cemetery there.
