Notre Dame Sister Julie Carmel Mingoia died June 21 at age 98. She was a Sister of Notre Dame de Namur for 76 years.
“Sister Julie Carmel Mingoia reflected God’s goodness to everyone she met,” the sisters said in a statement.
Sister Julie attended Notre Dame High School in San Jose entering her congregation’s novitiate in Saratoga in 1940. For more than 30 years, she served in Notre Dame schools from Southern California to Portland, Oregon, before being missioned to Madonna del Sasso in Salinas where she served for three decades in the parish and school. She was a founding member of the Notre Dame Sisters’ Province Center Community in Belmont.
A funeral Mass was celebrated June 29 at the Notre Dame Province Center with interment at Mission Cemetery in Santa Clara.
