Re “The priest’s role in the Mass is an act of fatherhood,” Father Joseph Illo, Feb. 13:
I would quote Galatians 3:26-29: “For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourself with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s offspring, heir according to the promise.”
I think the Scripture is very specific on this point. Once we have clothed ourselves in Christ Jesus, there is no division of male nor female for we are all one in Christ Jesus. It is not dependent on who can represent God more clearly but what God has accomplished in his love for us, and his stating that we are all one in Christ Jesus.
