Several months ago the Pew Center published a poll that stated most Catholics no longer believe in the true presence of Christ in the Eucharist. If that is true it is due to the total failure of the bishops and priests to teach their flock in the most important truth of our faith.
However, several weeks ago, I attended Sunday Mass at St. Pius in Redwood City. I heard the best sermon I have heard in 20 years and the first one in that period about the true presence. It was given by a recently ordained priest named Kyle Faller. He covered what we believe, why we believe it and if we don’t then we might as well go to a non-Catholic church. He gave his sermon with no notes, strictly from the heart. It was wonderful. He was teaching with the full authority of the church – no watering down of doctrine.
With young priests like this, Our Lady is doing her work. Let us pray for more like him.
