Antonio Sanchez-Corea, called “a great friend of the Archdiocese of San Francisco” in a statement from the Office for the Vicar for Clergy, died Jan. 8 from cancer.
Sanchez-Corea attended San Francisco’s St. Monica School, St. Ignatius College Preparatory, and San Francisco State University. His service included 40 years as a Knight of Malta and as a regent of St. Mary’s Cathedral.
“Tony came to the Order of Malta through his work and devotion to The Little Sisters of the Poor at St. Anne’s Home in San Francisco,” his family said in a statement. “Impressed by the love and dignity with which the sisters work, he embraced their mission, recruiting scores of family and friends to help care for their residents.” Sanchez-Corea established several businesses including A.R. Survivors include Lucille, his wife of 60 years.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Mary’s Cathedral Jan. 12 with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma.
