At the close of the prayers, Father Nascimento, pastor of St. Anne of the Sunset Parish in San Francisco, lifted a monstrance holding a relic of the saint and asked for her intercession for families, for the vulnerable, for those in the healing profession and for those who care for the weak.
“May this grandmother of Jesus reach over you and intercede as she interceded for her own family,” he said.
St. Anne was the mother of Mary and the maternal grandmother of Jesus,
according to apocryphal Christian and Islamic tradition.
